We are pleased to present this wonderful antique Early American Pattern Glass table set made 1892-1895 by the Elson Glass Company of Martin's Ferry, OH. This set consists of the spooner, covered sugar, creamer and covered butter dish. All pieces have the same floral decoration; the ruby stain is in very good condition with some scratches noted and the butter dish bottom has spots where the stain was applied too lightly.
The spooner measures 4 3/8" tall by 3 7/8" across and has no chips or cracks. The creamer is 5" tall at the lip and has a chip on the handle where it attaches to the body, along with a crack inside the handle. We note what is either more small stress cracks or tool marks on the top of the handle also. The sugar is 6 3/4"tall with lid and 3 7/8" across; the lid does have some tiny fleabites and is the piece with the most stain missing; the top of the finial has no stain. The butter dish measures 7 7/8" wide and 6 3/8" tall with lid. The cover is in very good condition with no chips or cracks; we note 2 areas where the stain is lighter due to manufacturing; it does have the ruby stain on the finial. The bottom has 2-3 nicks on one side of the edge of the outside rim, and one of these nicks shows a short 1/4" tight crack as well.
The minor condition issues are not uncommon in a table set of this age; we have researched extensively and have not found another complete table set, in ruby stain with decoration, anywhere.
