Green Beacon Glass Jug August Hofbauer Jersey Glass

We are very pleased to offer this stunning piece of Jersey glass made by August Hofbauer. His Beacon Glass Company was in operation from 1944 to 1949 and featured "Hand blown glassware in exciting jewel tones" "combining the decorative and the functional through fine craftsmanship and distinctive design". This jug is shown in a Beacon catalog.

The piece features a pulled out handle, ribbed optic effect, and has a rough pontil. It stands 8 7/8" tall. There are a few tiny bubbles, common to this type of hand-blown glass, but no chips or cracks. We do note some rubs and scratches, pictured.

The color is fabulous, a medium green, and the optic effect is visually pleasing. It would be lovely displayed in indirect sunlight.

Hofbauer's pieces are often mistaken for West Virginia glass companies' works.
